These terms apply to the Chef Culinary Conference website and the Chef Culinary Conference app for iOS and Android (together, “the service”), run by UMass Dining, part of Auxiliary Enterprises at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (“we”, “us”). By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
The service
The service provides conference information (schedule, speakers, exhibitors, maps and resources) and, for signed-in attendees, a personal agenda, notifications and messaging. Conference registration and payment happen in IRIS and are governed by its own terms; signing in to the app does not register you for the conference. Schedules, speakers and other details can change, and we cannot guarantee that every detail is complete or current.
Your account
- Sign in with the email address you registered with, and keep access to that email and your passkeys secure.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think it has been misused.
- Attendee-only features, including messaging, are available once conference staff approve your access. Staff may revoke that access at any time.
Acceptable use
Messaging is for professional networking among conference attendees. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone.
- Send content that is hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, violent, defamatory or otherwise objectionable.
- Send spam, unsolicited advertising, chain messages or scams.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are or who you work for.
- Share another person’s private information without their consent.
- Share content you do not have the right to share, or that infringes anyone’s intellectual property.
- Interfere with the service, try to reach accounts or data that are not yours, or collect other users’ information by automated means.
- Break the law or any University of Massachusetts policy, including the university’s policies on harassment and discrimination.
Reporting and enforcement
You can block anyone and report any message or person from within a conversation. Blocking someone stops them from messaging you. Conference staff review reports promptly, normally within 24 hours, and may remove content, revoke attendee access or suspend the accounts of people who break these terms, with or without notice. Serious incidents may be referred to the university or to law enforcement. To report a concern outside the app, email lauras@umass.edu.
Your content
You keep ownership of the messages, photos and profile details you add. You allow us to store, display and deliver them as needed to run the service; for example, to show your profile to people you connect with and to deliver your messages. Presenters additionally allow us to publish their profile and materials on the website and in the app to promote and document the conference.
Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.
Conference content
The text, images, logos, recordings and presentation materials in the service belong to the University of Massachusetts, the presenters or the sponsors who provided them. You may view and download them for your own personal, non-commercial use. Please do not republish or sell them without permission from their owner.
Third-party services
The service links to websites and services we do not run, such as IRIS, maps, sponsor websites and GIPHY. Their own terms and privacy policies apply, and we are not responsible for them.
Disclaimer and liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about the service and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from its use, from interruptions or errors, or from content provided by other users. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or waives any immunity of the University of Massachusetts.
Ending your use
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing lauras@umass.edu. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or when the service is discontinued.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will post changes on this page and update the date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
